Santa Teresita: Obra de preservación y restauración del frente costero
Se está llevando a cabo un proyecto innovador de defensa costera para proteger las zonas de médanos del Pozo de Bombeo y la Carabela, entre las calles 39 y 40 en Santa Teresita. Iniciado a principios de 2024, este plan tiene como objetivo frenar la erosión y recuperar la playa, empleando técnicas como el uso de gaviones y piedras con inclinación, que buscan evitar el daño a la costa, algo que no se había implementado previamente en el país.
La iniciativa fue impulsada por la Cooperativa de Servicios Públicos de Santa Teresita, que comenzó con estudios de impacto ambiental y diversas gestiones en conjunto con la administración del Intendente Juan de Jesús. El Secretario de Obras Públicas, arquitecto Walter Natalizia, expresó: “Esta iniciativa fue impulsada por la cooperativa y comenzó con estudios de impacto ambiental y conversaciones con la gestión del Intendente de Jesús. Tomamos esta obra que va desde 39 a 40, y se empezó a proyectar esta defensa que fue diseñada por el Ingeniero Eduardo Kreimer
A pesar de que se acerca la temporada de verano, las obras de preservación y restauración del frente marítimo no se detendrán: «La obra ya inició hace 15 días, si bien entendemos que genera algunos conflictos, algunas complicaciones con respecto al uso turístico, la idea es no frenar la obra.», aseguró el Secretario de Obras Públicas.
El proyecto presenta diversos desafíos debido a su dependencia del clima y las mareas, por lo que se está implementando un modelo innovador inspirado en experiencias internacionales: “Lo que estamos aplicando aquí no solo es tratar de defender el pozo y la Carabela, también buscamos frenar la erosión y recuperar la playa”, comentó el arquitecto Natalizia.
Por su parte, el ingeniero Carlos Revuelta, Asesor de la Cooperativa de Servicios Públicos de Santa Teresita, explicó por qué el Pozo de Bombeo se ubicó cerca del mar: “La razón por la cual está en ese lugar es porque es el punto más bajo de Santa Teresita, el agua viene desde las calles 50 y 27 hacia ese pozo”.
Además, para evitar la erosión sin reducir el nivel de la playa, se está utilizando un sistema de defensa con bloques de material rocoso: “La idea es darle una defensa con gaviones y piedras, pero con una pendiente de 30 grados, lo que hace que no golpee con fuerza y permita mantener el nivel de la playa”, contó Revuelta.
